Moore handplockade själv filmerna till festivalen och uttryckte sig väldigt positiv om den norska filmen. Han skrev bl.a. detta om "De osynliga" i festivalprogrammet:
"Once in a rare while, a film is so beautifully made, so perfectly conceived and executed, that it fills you with joy just to behold it. Such is the case with this amazing film from director Erik Poppe [...] Poppe masterfully structures a dual narrative, telling the story from the perspective of both the woman and the organist. We cannot think of a better film to open our festival of "just great movies" than this intense drama about forgiveness, redemption and the permanency of the decisions we make.”
Moore är en av världens mest kända och kontroversiella dokumentärfilmare. Han har legat bakom publiksuccéer som "Fahrenheit 9/11", "Bowling for Columbine" och "Sicko". Moore startade Traverse City Film Festival 2005 och festivalen drog i fjol 80 000 åskådare. Moore väljer själv ut filmerna till festival under mottot "Just great films". Festivalen visar mellan 60 och 90 filmer inom oberoende amerikansk film, dokumentär och utländsk film.
Festivalen, som arrangeras mellan 29 juli och 2 augusti, visar i år flera norska filmer under temat "Salute to Norway". I tillägg till "De osynliga" visas Bent Hamers "O'Horten", Tommy Wirkolas "Død snø" och Kajsa Næss prisvinnande kortfilm "Bygningsarbeidere". Traverse City Film Festival är en av de största festivalerna i amerikanska mellanvästern, som är ett område med en starkt norskättat befolkning.
